Best Car Lease Deals in Nassau County, NY

Regal Motorcars is a licensed New York auto broker. Tell us the vehicle you want, we source it, arrange the lease, and deliver it to your driveway anywhere in Nassau County.

Nassau is a good place to lease a car, and better than most people assume. It's a compact county with more rail service than anywhere else on the island, which means a lot of households drive far less than they think they do. It also carries the lower of Long Island's two sales tax rates. Put those together and the same car often leases for less here than a few miles east.

The rest is knowing the local details, and that part is our job.

That's a starting point rather than a catalog. We source across our dealer network, so if the trim, color or package you want isn't up there, tell us and we'll find it.

The mileage tier is where Nassau drivers save

If there's one decision worth ten minutes on a Nassau lease, it's this one, because the answer is usually a lower tier than instinct suggests, and a lower tier means a lower payment for the whole term.

Nassau is served by more LIRR branches than any other part of the island: the Main Line through Mineola and Hicksville, plus the Port Washington, Oyster Bay, Hempstead, West Hempstead, Long Beach, Far Rockaway and Babylon branches. If the car's main job is the round trip to Mineola, Hicksville, Rockville Centre, Merrick or Great Neck, plus errands and weekends, the 7,500 and 10,000-mile tiers are worth pricing before you default upward.

The rail picture has also improved. The Third Track project finished in October 2022, adding 9.8 miles of track between Floral Park and Hicksville and removing eight street-level grade crossings, and the opening of Grand Central Madison enabled a large systemwide service increase. More off-peak and reverse-peak trains means the car stays home on days it previously couldn't.

If you do drive to work, count it honestly and price up. East–west means the Northern State, the Southern State, the Long Island Expressway, Jericho Turnpike, Northern Boulevard, Hempstead Turnpike or Sunrise Highway. North–south means the Meadowbrook, the Wantagh, Route 135, Glen Cove Road or Route 107. And Nassau is a destination as much as an origin, so if you're driving into the county for work rather than out of it, your mileage looks nothing like your neighbor's.

Allowance Typically suits
7,500 mi/yr Rail commuters, a second household car, mostly local driving
10,000 mi/yr A commute inside Nassau, occasional trips off the island
12,000 mi/yr Daily driving across the county, or Nassau-to-Suffolk commuting
15,000 mi/yr Long car commutes, regular East End trips, frequent city driving

Tell us a realistic week and we'll price two tiers side by side so you can see exactly what the difference costs per month. Between two, take the higher one — buying miles at signing is cheaper than buying them at the end.

$0 Down lease deals in Nassau County

A $0 Down lease means no down payment is applied toward the vehicle. First month's payment, the lender's acquisition fee, DMV and registration fees, and applicable New York State sales tax are still collected at signing.

There's a real argument for structuring it this way beyond keeping cash in your pocket. A down payment on a lease isn't equity you can recover — if the vehicle is stolen or written off early in the term, the settlement goes to the leasing company as titleholder and the lease ends. Gap coverage protects the lender's position, not your cash. Putting nothing toward the vehicle removes that exposure entirely.

The trade-off is a higher monthly payment, since the full depreciation spreads across the term. Both structures are legitimate. We'll show you the difference and you pick.

Nassau carries the lower tax rate on Long Island

Nassau's combined sales tax rate is 8.625%. Suffolk's went to 8.75% on March 1, 2025, after voters approved Proposition 2 funding the county's Water Quality Restoration Act. The two used to be identical, and now Nassau is the cheaper side of the line.

Worth knowing how it lands. New York doesn't tax a lease month by month — it collects sales tax at inception on the total of all payments for the term. And the rate follows where the vehicle is regularly garaged, not where it was sourced. Your driveway decides it, which means a Garden City address gets Nassau's rate on a car that came from anywhere. (Rates get adjusted periodically, so we'll confirm the current one when we quote you.)

Insurance is the variable that moves more, and it moves by ZIP rather than by county. It's worth a fresh quote from your carrier before you settle on a payment.

Driving into the city, and the case for the train

Since January 2025, entering Manhattan at or below 60th Street costs a passenger car $9 during peak hours with E-ZPass and $2.25 overnight, charged once per calendar day however many times you enter. Peak runs 5am to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 9pm on weekends. The MTA has published a schedule taking the peak car toll to $12 in 2028 and $15 in 2031.

For Nassau households this mostly showed up as a nudge toward the LIRR for a couple of days a week, and that's genuinely useful information when you're choosing a mileage tier. If your habits shifted after January 2025 and your current lease was signed before that, there's a decent chance you're carrying miles you don't use. Recount a normal week before you pick the next tier — it's the easiest saving available on the whole transaction.

What we handle, and the short list for you

Most of the paperwork is ours. New York registration and titling are part of the transaction, and if you're transferring plates from a vehicle already registered in New York, tell us up front and we'll set it up correctly.

There's a short list on your side, and it's short because in New York a leased vehicle is registered in the lessee's name. You're the registrant and the leasing company holds the title, so your name and address are on the registration and you qualify for everything a Nassau resident qualifies for. A few things are keyed to the specific vehicle and want updating when the new one lands:

  • E-ZPass. Add the new plate at delivery and remove the old one. Toll notices route through the registered owner of record, and lenders add an administrative fee when they process one, so it's the easiest charge on the list to avoid.
  • Commuter parking permits. The Town of Hempstead's Resident Commuter Parking Permit covers town-maintained spaces at the Baldwin, Bellmore, Merrick, Seaford and Wantagh LIRR lots, and the application asks for a copy of your vehicle registration. The permit year runs April 1 to March 31. Villages across the county run their own station lots on their own rules.
  • Beach and park access. The Nassau County Leisure Pass gets you resident pricing at county facilities. Seasonal boat launch permits for county ramps want a valid New York State registration alongside it, and the sticker goes on the vehicle.

We'll tell you what to have ready so it's all done around delivery rather than discovered later.

Pickups and the parkways

One thing worth raising early if you're leasing a pickup. Vehicles registered with commercial plates aren't permitted on New York State parkways, and in Nassau that's a meaningful chunk of the road network — the Northern State, the Southern State, the Meadowbrook, the Wantagh, the Seaford–Oyster Bay, the Loop and Ocean Parkway, which is also how you get to Jones Beach and Point Lookout.

Registration class depends on the vehicle's configuration and how it's used. Mention it while we're structuring the lease and it's a non-issue; the trouble only starts when nobody asks. We'll walk through the options for that specific truck and you can confirm the class with the New York State DMV.

Questions we get from Nassau County drivers

Do you deliver to my village?

All of Nassau — the three towns, both cities, the sixty-four incorporated villages and the hamlets in between. Garden City, Hicksville, Massapequa, Port Washington, Rockville Centre, Syosset, Long Beach, wherever you are in the county. Pick your town from the list at the foot of this page, or just tell us where you're keeping the car. Delivery is to your driveway, which also means you're not looking for a spot on a permit-only street.

I take the LIRR from Mineola. What mileage allowance should I get?

Probably less than you'd guess, which is good news for the payment. If the car mostly does the station run plus errands and weekends, 7,500 or 10,000 usually covers it with room. Nassau is compact and short hops don't add up the way people expect. Track one ordinary week, multiply it out, add a buffer for trips off the island, and tell us the number — we'll price the tiers around it.

Is it cheaper to lease in Nassau or Suffolk?

Nassau, slightly. The combined rate here is 8.625%; Suffolk went to 8.75% in March 2025. New York collects lease sales tax up front on the total of payments for the term, and the rate follows where the car is garaged rather than where it was sourced, so a Nassau address gets Nassau's rate no matter which dealer the vehicle came from. Insurance is the bigger variable and it moves by ZIP, not by county.

Does congestion pricing change what I should lease?

Not what, but possibly how many miles. Entering Manhattan below 60th Street runs $9 peak with E-ZPass and $2.25 overnight, once per day, with increases scheduled for 2028 and 2031. If that pushed a couple of your weekly city trips onto the train, a lower mileage tier is realistic and worth pricing.

I have a Town of Hempstead commuter parking permit. Does it carry over?

It's keyed to the vehicle, so you'll redo it for the new car. The application asks for a copy of your registration and the permit year runs April 1 to March 31. Village station lots each run their own program. We'll flag it before delivery so it's handled in the same week rather than surfacing on a Monday morning.

Who gets a red light camera notice on a leased car?

You do, and that's the better outcome. Camera violations are Notices of Liability issued to the registered owner under Vehicle and Traffic Law § 1111-b, and on a New York lease you're the registrant. It carries no license points and isn't reported to your insurer, and because it comes straight to your address rather than through the leasing company, there's no lender administrative fee stacked on top the way there is with a toll notice. Just keep your address current on the registration.

Can I get a Leisure Pass or a beach permit with a leased car?

Yes. Your registration shows your name and your Nassau address, which is what the county and the towns ask for alongside proof of residency. Boat launch permits for county ramps want the registration and the Leisure Pass together, and the sticker goes on the vehicle, so it's one to redo when the car changes.

Can I lease a pickup and still use the Meadowbrook and the Northern State?

Depends how it's registered, and it's easy to sort out in advance. Commercial plates aren't permitted on New York State parkways. Registration class turns on the vehicle's configuration and use, so raise it while we're structuring the lease and confirm the class with the New York State DMV.

Do you handle registration and plates?

Yes, as part of the transaction. If you're transferring plates from a New York vehicle you already have, mention it up front so it's set up correctly, and remember to move that plate across on your E-ZPass account too.

What happens at the end of my lease?

You can return it, buy it out at the purchase option price stated in your contract, or lease something else. If the vehicle is worth more than the buyout figure, that difference may be worth acting on rather than handing back. Start looking a few months before maturity, since the options are wider while there's term remaining. If the car lives near the water on the South Shore, washing the underbody through the winter keeps the return inspection uneventful.
